A grading report deserves attention during this stage. Check which laboratory issued it, review the recorded measurements and confirm that its identification details correspond to the diamond being considered.

This is much more useful than assuming that every stone carrying the same carat figure will have the same appearance.

The Setting Changes How Size Is Perceived

Diamond measurements do not exist separately from ring design.

A slim solitaire can expose much of the stone and place visual attention directly on its outline. A halo surrounds the center with smaller diamonds, increasing the overall footprint of the ring.

A bezel setting creates a metal border around the diamond. This can provide additional protection around the edge while giving the stone a different visual frame.

Band width matters as well. A center diamond can appear proportionally larger against a narrow band than against a substantially wider one.
